# 5 Friendship

To me this means that friends can bring your day up and make someone happy if your having a bad day. Friends are very hard to find and good ones are even harder to find. If you have a very good friend in your life alot of things will just seem to turn out better, and you'll also always have someone to talk to. I liked the poem it was very good and made alot of since when you read it. It shows you how some people can make a very bad day good just because you had a good friend there. This relates to me because if I'm sad or upset having my good friends around can just make you feel so much better. Sometimes it's hard to trust somebody but once you do you'll have a person who will have your back no matter what.

#5 Friendship

Friends
A friend is someone we turn towhen our spirits need a lift. A friend is someone we treasurefor our friendship is a gift. A friend is someone who fills our liveswith beauty, joy, and grace. And makes the whole world we live ina better and happier place.

Essay Moral Dilemma

Moral dilemma in Huck Finn In the adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck faces a number of moral dilemmas which reveal much about his character. He feels what he is doing is the right thing when he is faced with one of these very hard decisions , he has to do what he feels is best. But sometimes what he feels is the right thing it's reallly the wrong thing if it was another person looking at it. Even though he is a very smart boy he starts to regret all the things he did, and starts to think they were all bad chioces. This is one of those moral dilemmas that I feel shows how he did what he thought was right.

When Huck goes to see if they found Ciaro he runs into a problem in Chapter 16 page 67 paragraph 5 he starts thinking to himself should he yell on Jim? He runs into two white men and they ask if anyone else was on that raft, and at that moment he really had to think about what was the right thing for him to do. Then he thought that he couldn't do that to Jim so he daid that his sick dad was on the raft. Even though he felt bad about about ling he did what he thought was best and that shows me that Huck is a very kind and thoughtful person and will try to do what he can for a friend.

I think that Huck made the right decision because Jim has been there with him the whole time helping him and just being with him he grew into really being able to trust and talk to him. In Chapter 16 page 68 paragrahph 3 Huck says " S' pose you'd a done the right and give Jim up, would you felt any better than you do right now". That shows me that even if he turned Jim in it wouldn't make him feel any better he would feel worse. So even though it may not seem like the right decision he made the right one he just really had to think about it.

Huck is a very nice person and cares alot for Jim I think Jim became almost like a replaced father for Huck because he teaches him alot of lessons. In chapter 10 page 39 paragrahph 3 huck says "you said the worst bad luck in the world is to touch a snake-skin with my hands. He learns so much from Jim he would have never felt that way. That's also why I feel Huck made a good decision not to sell Jim out.

Huck faces many moral dilemmas but he makes pretty good judgment on what he should do. Sometimes he really dosen't know what to do but when he really thinks about it he knows the best thing to do. This is example of a moral dilemma shows that sometimes the the things Huck thinks is right really is right . He is a very smart and caring person and when he needs to makes the right decisions.

Huck Finn Reader Response # 3 (Ch.14-Ch.18)

I think what impreeses Huck at the Grangerford house is by how nice the family was they had very nice things like the people in the town had. He was just amazed at what things they had like there bricks were kept clean on the nice big fireplace they had in there house. A quote from this paragrapgh is on page 75 paragrpgh 3 chapter 17 when Huck says " it was so nice and had so much style. I think this means to Huck that you don't have to live in a rich or fancy house to be successful or happy, just having some nice things and living in a nice house and make you happy.

What was so interresting about the book was matbe because they were so many of them he mayhave never, even seen most of those books that were in that house he was probably excited inside to see all of those books. Huck even though he may not think it likes to learn and read and wants an education he seemed to be enjoying the books he was reading. In chapter 17 page 76 paragrpgh 5 " I read considerable in it now and then. The statements were interesting, but tough". That shows in a way he was trying to understand what he was reading for a better understanding. Mark Twain probably thought education was a very important thing andhe might of liked reading and learning to.

The drawing in the scrape book are pictures of like woman at funerals dressed in all black saying things like I'll never see you again but it was said in a different way. The girl seems to be obseesed with death and sad things. The picture of the girl on the bridge with the three sets of arms shows that she is about to jump off the bridge. The first arm was of her reaching up to god and the onme when she's reaching out to maybe someone she loves and the last one she is hugging herself maybe shows that she loves herself. She is a very depressed girl but she was loved and you can tell by the drawing. In chapter 17 page 77 paragraph "This young girl kept a scrapebook when she was still alive, and used to paste obituaries ...." It described so good because of the way the picture is drawn. This shows that they think about alot and is a very important subject in his life. Huck feels bad and never heard of anything like that before it touches him in a way.

Reader Response 2: Huck Finn (7-13)

Reader Response 2: Huck Finn (7 - 13)DUE: END OF THE HOUR TODAYFor today's response, you are to write 4-6 paragraphs in which you answer the following questions: How is Huck influenced by the following people: Tom Sawyer, Widow Douglas, Pap, and Jim? Who do you think has the most positive influence on Huck? Negative? Why?You must write at least one paragraph about each person and include the quote, chapter, page, and paragraph number for each quote. (CHAPTER, PAGE #, PAR. #)
skip lines between paragraphs

Tom Sawyer to me influenced Huck Finn because he is very adventurous and is not afraid to do things even if Huck gets a little scared. He kind of pushes Huck to do things he thought he could never do or would normally be afraid to do. He is a positive influence although he can be a negative one because some things Huck doesn’t need to do. He may get into trouble because of what they did but he also has the confidence to do it. I chapter 12 page 15 and in paragraph 3 “Huck thinks to himself that Tom Sawyer wouldn’t back down so I won’t either, I’m going to see what’s going on in there.

”The widow Douglas had a good influence on Huck to me because she was always telling him what to do and what not to do. She was just trying to teach him to do the right thing but most of the time, really all the time he never listened. In chapter 2 page 2 paragraph 3 the widow Douglas said “Smoking was a mean practice and wasn’t clean, and I must try not to do it anymore.” That’s why again I think she is a positive influence on Huck even if he never listens to what she says.

Pap is a negative influence on Huck he always tells him the wrong thing to do. He is so bad at advice or just asking something that maybe important to Huck and he takes it and just does the absolute wrong thing. In Chapter 12 page49 and paragraph 3 " pap said it warn't no harm to borrow things if you was meaning to pay them back sometime. To me that is the the wrong thing to be telling a young boy. He should not think stealing is ok that is why I think pap is a negative influence on Huck.

Jim is a very positive influence to Huck to me because he spends the most time with him. He gives very good advice if Huck needed it and he always has a way of figuring something out. Jim said"that handling a snake skin was such awful bad luckthat maybe we hadn't got to the end of it."This was in chapter 11 page 40 and paragraph 3, Jim is a very supersitious person so thats why I think he is a more protective person and safer person to be around. He is very smart and very easy I think for Huck to get along with. Thats why I think he is a positive influence on Huck.

Reader Response 1: Huck Finn (1 - 6)

The theme that i am doing is government. the quote that was stated is "why, just look at it and see what its like....Here's a government that calls itself government, and lets on to be a government and thinks its a government and yet got to set stock-still for 6 whole months before it can take a hold of a prowling, theiving, infernatl, white- shirted free...(ch 6, p20-21, par.1) To me this means this isn't the government just look at what its doing and see do you still think its the government. That's what this quote means me.

What I think about this guote is that it makes since to me but at the time he did not know what he was talking about. He's trying to say the government is bad and that there not doing anything to help but doing things to hurt people.I felt he was going way over the top with his cussing and was just a little bit of everywhere. He just goes on alot saying bad things about the government and i kind of get where he's going .

I think Mark Twain was trying to show that the government was bad around his time and maybe wasn't doing for the peopleat that time.He was trying tell in the way pap pwas saying that the government needs to do morefor the people.I think that Mark twain disagrees with the government also because they don't always do what they need to help out there people. And his way of life was that people should all be equal no matter there skin color.
